The Burundian ICT Center of Expertise officially launched the “Week of objective and effective navigation for Internet opportunities” on wednesday, August12, 2026 in Bujumbura. The goal is to teach participants how to use the Internet not to get lost in it, but to create real opportunities.
The launch was marked by a speech of Nathan Ntahondi, the National Coordinator of CBETIC. Looking back at the organization’s work since its creation in 2024, he highlighted three major achievements. He underlined the platform construction and launch. For him this is a digital infrastructure made available to the public to facilitate access to information and online services.
Among CBETIC’s achievements, Nathan Ntahondi indicated also the capacity building in which dozens of training sessions already have been organized to equip young people and professionals with basic and advanced digital skills. He also mentioned the partnership development that CBETIC achieved. CBETIC established collaborations with public and private actors to expand impact and ensure the sustainability of projects, said Nathan Ntahondi who gave an example of the collaboration between CBETIC and the British Non-profit organization Jangala who already formalized the partnership by giving the Big Box equipment for Internet sharing during CBETIC’s mobilization and training sessions of citizens. He also Thank Chinese Embassy to Burundi which support CBETIC in equipment.
“Our mission is clear: to make digital technology a driver of development for all. And it starts with learning how to navigate with purpose”, sand Nathan Ntahondi.
Focus on purposeful and inclusive navigation
Right after the official launch, participants attended a presentation by the National Coordinator on “Mastering objective and effective navigation”. The focus was on finding reliable information, avoiding distractions, and using the internet for employment, entrepreneurship, and learning.
The session ended with a practical exercise on configuration the Internet homepage. Each participant learned how to personalize their browser to access resources directly related to their goals.
To ensure everyone stayed connected, the Big Box was deployed in the hall of training, and provided internet access to all participants, during the working session.
Committed participants
The feedback was direct and positive. Participants did not hold back : they expressed their satisfaction with the quality of the training and collectively decided to continue the program until they become true professionals in internet navigation.
Bizimungu Marie Rolse, one of the participants, suggested creating a WhatsApp group. This idea was unanimously welcomed. “I propose we create a WhatsApp group so we can keep learning from each other, even remotely. That way no one drops out”.
The CBETC team welcomed the idea, seeing this community spirit as a strong sign that the week is off to a great start.
The week of objective and effective Navigation will continue throughout the week with more practical modules focused on finding opportunities, online safety, and productivity tools.
